Introduction
This page is meant to teach you how you should dicide for your moves. The moves you actually are going to use, depends a lot on which team you build. When talking about moves you should search for the most commun moves used for a Pokemon because what pros are using is normaly the best option for a Pokemon but don't forget if you are creative enought you can make everything work out for your own team. You should try a combination of moves from pros and try to change it to fit best to your team.
The same thing is with abilities you should do reseaches about what abilites a Pokemon can have. There are not a lot of choices so choose a abititie that most fit your team for each Pokemon.
Battle and Attacks basics
-
Give attacking Pokémon moves of their own type. Same Type Attack Bonus (or STAB) activates when the move is the same type as the user, and multiplies the move's power by 1.5 times.
Here as an example we have Kingambit, a Pokémon which has the types, steel and dark. Kingambit has two attacks that have the same type as himself, so he is going to get on the attacks "Kowtow Cleave" and "Iron Head" an increase of damage to 1.5.
-
Give your Pokémon coverage moves. This allows your Pokémon to get super effective hits against multiple types, prevents them from getting walled and allows them to defend against Pokémon that it's weak to.
-
Avoid assigning multiple attack moves of the same type. This can wall your Pokémon if the opponent switches in a Pokémon that resists their attacks. Stat boosters and restoration moves are OK (eg. Synthesis, Aromatherapy, Growth & Petal Dance).
look for example to the previous picture on Kingambit and you can see clearly that he doesn't have two moves of the same type but he could for example have two moves of the same type if it would actually help me. So you should test different combinasations of moves
-
Consider move priority. Priority determines the order in which moves are executed (higher priority always goes first). If two or more moves have equal priority, Speed is taken into account.
Miascarade has here Sucker Punch, which is a priority move
-
Choose a strong lead Pokémon. As the Pokémon that's sent out first, they're usually fast in order to put out delayed moves and other hazards before the opponent, and are sometimes bulky so they can set up hazards multiple times throughout the match.
